ITNS Transplant Nursing Symposium 2017
Last weekend, Dawn Cook attended the Transplant Nursing Symposium: Reflections of Transplant Nursing Excellence presented by the International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS). The symposium took place at the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace in Lake Buena Vista, FL and was attended by transplant nurse professionals from around the world. This 3-day annual event helps transplant nurses build competencies for professional development by promoting educational opportunities and sharing best practices to improve patient care and advance the specialty.
This year, Dawn was asked to present on the topic of Transplantation Costs and Litigation: Valuing the Lifetime Cost of Organ Transplantation, which covered subject matter related to organ transplant, nursing legal work, and life care planning. Her presentation was so well-received that she was asked to return as a speaker at next year’s ITNS U.S. symposium in Illinois.
